It's always amusing to me when fans that bemoan the lack of 'proper' dungeons in BotW hold it up as this shining example of old Zelda done right when it has, by far, the worst dungeons of any 3d game in the series.

Wind Waker is a very boring and evidently unfinished game held up by its aesthetics and music. If it weren't for Other M then this would be the worst first-party game on the Wii. It is one of the most boring games I have ever completed. Worst 3D Zelda game, but I think I have gone over it enough times already. Still, it is a pretty mediocre game and the worst major first-party game on the Gamecube.

I don't really hate the triforce treasure hunt, exploration in the Zelda series should be the focus and since all dungeons in the WW are kinda bad, hunting for treasure at my own leisure was more fun. The art style in the GameCube version is great and sadly the HD version ruined it. So the game feels like a prettier but lesser version of OOT. There isn't a big enough leap between the N64 titles in terms of core mechanics. I think nearly all the dungeons suck and the game needed more time in the oven. Overall it was a decent ride but I will likely never play it again.Īfter Twilight Princess Wind Waker comes next. The combat and the pacing are all major issues. I don't like any of those all that much, but it has to be Twilight Princess for being complete and not having as many fundamental issues like WW and SS.
